How the Hyundai Blind Spot System Works
Hyundai Blind-Spot and Assist Rear Cross-Traffic Alert both use an array of sensors in the rear bumper to track vehicles in close proximity. When moving forward on the freeway, these sensors will identify vehicles traveling in your blind spots, following close-behind in adjacent lanes. When backing out of a parking space or driveway in reverse gear, these sensors will notify the driver of vehicles approaching from the sides.
Passive warnings for the driver include amber illuminated indicators on the side rear view mirrors that inform the driver of nearby vehicles, on the corresponding side. Should a driver attempt to change lanes or continue backing up while a moving vehicle is detected in the blind spot area, the Blind-Spot Assist system will use active warnings to alert the driver. Depending on which Hyundai model you drive, this active warning may include flashing of the mirror indicators, an audible warning tone, or a vibration in the steering wheel.
How To Reset Blind Spot Detector System Hyundai

- Use a Detection Tool: Turn the ignition on and hook the tool up to detect the ID and VIN of your vehicle. Click on the scanner, which is located right in the BSD module. Work on the left side and place it on a system test called “Blind Spot Detection Calibration.” What this does is it sets your BSD radar once replacement is done.
- Clearing Missing Calibration Components: This process should be able to clear missing calibration issues, allowing radar sensors to proceed to the self-alignment steps. Afterwards, the sensors will self-align as you drive the vehicle. It may take about 30 seconds for the entire process to be over.
- Cycle the Ignition: Next, you need to cycle your ignition after it turns off and on again. Wait for the process to be over, then hit the “Continue” option. When coding is complete, that means one side is finished, so you can move on to the right side.
- Double Check Codes: When you have performed the same procedure for the other side, be sure to double check for any codes. This way, you can be certain that nothing is wrong when you are driving. When you don’t notice any codes, it means that your BSD is already reset and calibrated. Then, it’s ready to go!
