Hyundai has been an official top-tier automotive partner of FIFA for twenty-three years straight. To take the partnership up a notch, Hyundai will join with FIFA to make a sustainable World Cup. Through their partnership, Hyundai and FIFA are going on a shared journey towards building a more sustainable world.
The Hyundai World Cup partnership is another step in FIFA’s long history of supporting sustainable development. In 2016, FIFA was the first sports federation to join the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework based on the Paris Climate Agreement. It has worked with other sports federations, teams, athletes, and fans to meet the goals of the agreement since then.
Bringing Mobile Sustainability to the FIFA World Cup
As part of its sustainability partnership with FIFA, Hyundai is providing a fleet of sustainable vehicles—totaling 592 official vehicles—for the sports tournament. The fleet will include 422 passenger vehicles and 170 commercial vehicles. They will be used to transport participating member associations, VIPs, and event officials during the event and festivities.
To promote the goals of sustainability and Hyundai’s Goal of the Century campaign, half of the passenger cars and a proportion of the commercial vehicles will be eco-friendly models—like the IONIQ 5 and Santa Fe Hybrid.
